ClimateLocal
Pioneers, climate navigators and future makers - the ClimateLocal project gives people over 50 the chance to become involved in climate protection in their local communities - and to discuss these matters with the younger generation.
"It's my house that's doing all the saving," jokes a woman of some 60 years of age. She is standing in front of her house and explaining to a group of people why her home is so special now that it has been renovated. There's a teenager standing next to her. Along with his school class, he has prepared ten climate tips and now proceeds to present them to his audience. This could be a scene from the ClimateLocal project – in this project, people over 50 are involved in climate protection and energy efficiency in collaboration with their community and myclimate. Together, specific actions are developed.
Climate guided tour and climate cultural event
During a tour of the town, the ClimateLocal group tells residents about local climate protection innovations while at the same pointing out the areas that still need attention.
Once a year, the ClimateLocal group organises a climate cultural event in the local community. The purpose of this is to showcase the group's activities in a festive setting and to raise people's awareness of climate protection.
The ClimateLocal project also aims to promote inter-generational dialogue about climate change and climate protection. Since present-day decisions in the field of climate protection bear consequences for future generations, school groups should also be invited, if possible, to work together with the ClimateLocal group and to develop and present a part of the guided tour.
ClimateLocal is being launched as a pilot project in the Swiss Energy Towns.
ClimateLocal Network
Dietikon is the first commune that founded a ClimateLocal group. On its own website the group presents its activities. Other ClimateLocal groups can join the website so that it becomes a ClimateLocal network.
